Dear Parents, Guardians, Families and Friends of Desert View Schools,
We sent out a survey to our DVMS families on July 1st. We have received your feedback and wanted to let you know that we are looking into all your questions and concerns.
As we move forward in our planning for the new year we will take into account the information that you have submitted. Please know that this is a very delicate process, and we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our staff, students, and stakeholders.
We are still looking at the following options for the new school year. Please note that per Governor Ducey’s proclamation that on campus school begin no earlier than August 17th. That being said as of today, July 9th, we are planning to begin on campus classes on Monday, August 17th. For the DVMS at home we are planning to start on August 3rd.
Option 1: DVMS on Campus (safe as possible*) with five-day traditional schedule
Option 2: DVMS at Home (with parent/guardian support) using a reputable education company and their curriculum
*Going out in public, including our school, has risks regardless of the safety protocols and measures used. While we will be doing our best to protect everyone on our campus, no human measures are a 100% guarantee of protection.
Once again we know how important this is to you and for our team to get this “right.” That is why we have, and will continue to research, consult, discuss and plan as things evolve in these uncertain times. There are no guarantees and, at present, based upon worldwide research and practices, there isn’t even one right or best way to reopen schools. We believe our two options represent the best of both worlds and will empower parents to choose what’s best for them and their family circumstances.
